With the search for 3-year-old Elijah Vue now on day 12, many people are beginning to fear the worst.
While it is a fact that the longer a person is missing, the higher the chance they are not found safe, there is precedent in the state of Wisconsin for everyone to retain hope. It happened on October 15th, 2018.
The then 13-year-old Jayme Closs disappeared from her home in Barron, Wisconsin.
An extensive search was conducted, but nothing was found for 88 days.
Then, on January 10th, 2019, the entire state was shocked and elated by the news that Jayme had been found.
For nearly three months, her family and friends worried about her, and for many, hope was lost that she would be found alive.
Obviously, there are many key differences in these cases. Jayme was 13 years old when she was kidnapped, and her parents were murdered. Elijah is 3-years-old, and his caregivers are incarcerated.
We only bring up this comparison to hopefully shine a beacon of hope onto what, for many, is losing that sense of hope.
There are still people gathering every day to search different areas, and they are also shining that hopeful light on the situation.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for any usable information in the case, while Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000.
Anyone with information regarding Elijah’s disappearance is asked to call the state tips line at 844-267-6648 or submit it on the P3 Tips app.
