The City of Two Rivers has begun addressing the issue of uneven sidewalks in certain areas of the city.
In his latest City Manager’s report, Greg Buckley noted that Public Works crews have begun leveling out the grated areas around the trees that are planted along Washington Street.
The ever-growing trees began to push the grates up, causing an uneven walking surface and a trip hazard for those enjoying the downtown business district.
Buckley explained that the solution for most situations was to install a new grate with a larger center, allowing more room for the tree to grow.
This did, however, require the crews to remove the “tree cages” that were in place.
The project is being done in collaboration with Two Rivers Main Street.
