A set of brothers will be representing Valders at the state wrestling tournament.
During the Sectional tournament hosted by Bonduel, Maddux Wendling earned his spot at state by going 3-0 and finishing 1st in the 120-pound weight class.
He earned a pinfall victory in the quarterfinals and claimed an 8-0 win in the semis and claimed the sectional crown with a 9-2 point victory in the finals.
His brother Jack finished 3rd in the 126-pound weight class, thanks to a 15-2 major decision in the quarterfinals.
He then lost 6-2 in the semi-final but avenged a loss from last year’s sectional by taking down Brayden Madl of Crandon in a 4-0 decision.
Maddux earned the #2 seed in the 120-pound weight class and will have his first match Friday morning, while Jack is the 8th seed in the 126-pound weight class and will start his journey to the podium Thursday night at the Kohl Center in Madison.
