A 23-year-old man was caught trying to steal hundreds of dollars worth of Pokémon cards from the Manitowoc Meijer store.
Officers were called to the store on South Rapids Road at around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday to view security camera footage from February 8th.
The footage showed the suspect taking the 35-cent bar codes for Kool-Aid packets and taping them over twelve packs of Pokémon cards, valued at around $550, and two packages of diapers.
An alarm sounded on the self-checkout where he scanned the items, but an employee mistakenly canceled the alarm, causing the suspect to continue checking out and leaving without incident.
The officer then found the man at his residence in the 500 block of Buffalo Street, where he was arrested without incident.
The suspect is facing a charge of Felony Retail Theft, as the total amount of the items he took was over $670.
