The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection is giving meat processors in Wisconsin a chance to apply for the Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant.
Applicants have until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8th, to submit their application. Recently, the government increased the budget for this program to $1.8 million for this round of grants.
Their goal is to help the meat industry in Wisconsin grow and make the livestock industry more sustainable for the future.
To be eligible for this grant, applicants must either already operate or plan to operate a meat-processing establishment that’s licensed by the DATCP or the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Wisconsin.
It’s also important that they’re involved in livestock harvest or processing.
The processor’s project should be focused on increasing harvest capacity or production.
If selected, a participant could receive a grant of up to $50,000 for a project that can last up to two years but will also need to match the grant amount with their own funds.
To apply, send the application to DATCP Grants Manager at datcpdadgrants@wisconsin.gov. The grant recipients will be announced this upcoming May.
