Chippewa Falls School Board president David Czech is standing by the choice to withhold information from parents regarding a credible threat at the city’s middle school.
Czech clarified in a letter to parents that the school district refrained from disclosing details about a student’s concerning behavior involving pipe bomb research and detailed threats in October, as law enforcement had been engaged.
Czech emphasized that while the student posed a credible threat, they were not an immediate danger.
The decision not to notify parents was motivated by a desire to prevent undue alarm within the community.
Czech dismissed criticisms of the school’s handling of the situation as driven by a “political narrative.”
To address concerns, Chippewa Falls Schools will host a public hearing later this month.
