Attorneys representing the teenager accused of the assault and homicide of 10-year-old Lily Peters are persistently advocating for the case to be transferred back to juvenile court.
Last week, they lodged an appeal against the decision by a Chippewa County judge to try the 15-year-old suspect in adult court.
Asserting that a juvenile trial and sentence would be more appropriate, the legal team continues its efforts.
Approximately two weeks ago, the judge ordered the case to be moved to adult court.
Police allege that the teenager brutally assaulted, raped, and killed Peters as she walked home in April 2022.
The trial date is yet to be determined.
