The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have been entertaining fans of baseball since 1958 when they were known as the Fox Cities Foxes.
They became the Timber Rattlers in 1995 and have been the Midwest League affiliate for the Milwaukee Brewers since 2009.
When they changed their name, the organization moved into Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium, which has been named Ballpark Digest’s 2023 Ballpark of the Year.
In the article announcing the honor, publisher Kevin Reichard said that the Rattlers have gone the extra mile to create a ballpark experience that is great for those on the field and in the stands.
He stated, “It’s no secret the last four years have been a challenging environment for MiLB teams, both because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the changing expectations from MiLB on the ballpark front. The renovations to Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium excel on both levels.”
Those renovations include additional seating areas, an expanded 360-degree concourse, new outdoor suites above the left field wall, and a three-story slide in homage to the slide Bernie Brewer zips down after a homer at American Family Field.
