The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has one less deputy.
The Department announced Saturday that K9 Mattis passed away after a brief battle with an unspecified illness.
Mattis was taken to the Madison Veterinary Hospital earlier in the week after he suddenly became very ill.
The vets in Madison worked to try to diagnose and fix the issue, but Mattis ended up succumbing to the illness.
In a statement, the Department thanked the staff at the veterinary hospital and sent their thoughts and prayers to his handler, Deputy Dennis.
They ended by saying, “Mattis will be greatly missed by his Brown County family. Rest easy Mattis, we’ve got it from here.”
