An eastern Wisconsin Assemblyman is taking aim at human traffickers.
District 25 Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc, along with District 23 Senator Jesse James of Altoona, coauthored a bill that would add “Keeping a place of prostitution” to the list of sex offenses for which a person must register as a sex offender.
In a news release, Rep. Tittl said that as a part of the Speaker’s Task Force on Human Trafficking with Sen. James and thirteen others, heard input from citizens around the state.
Through their conversations with constituents, the task force determined, as Tittl explained, that “keeping a place of prostitution should be included on the list of sexual offenses. In addition, the task force has concluded that keeping a place of prostitution serves as a source for human trafficking.”
He called the measure a step forward in the “pursuit of reaching justice for victims and improving a deterrent strategy.”
