A 21-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at students.
According to the criminal complaint, the Manitowoc Police Department dispatched officers to the intersection of South 12th and Hamilton Streets just before 4:00 Wednesday evening (January 10th) on a report of a man who had pulled a gun on someone and fled the scene.
Officers located the vehicle the man was reported to be in, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The suspect fled, nearly hitting another vehicle before coming to a stop in the 1100 block of South 12th Street.
The driver then fled on foot, leaving several individuals behind in the car.
They cooperated with the officers, convincing the suspect to surrender.
The person who called the police told an officer that the suspect had pointed what appeared to be a rife at two high school students, causing the caller to yell at him.
The suspect then approached the man, and punched him the face multiple times before fleeing in the vehicle. The suspect told police that the two students were his brother’s “best friends” and that they were in a “Nerf war”.
He claimed the weapon was a Nerf gun, however no such gun was found in the home.
The man was arrested on charges of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, Simple Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Felony Bail Jumping, and two counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
