With a major winter storm expected to hit Eastern Wisconsin over the next couple of days, now is a good time to remember to get your car ready for the worst-case scenario.
While everyone thinks they are a great driver and that nothing is going to happen to them, it is important to always make sure you have a first aid kit in your car, along with some warm clothes and a blanket, a small shovel, water, and a phone charger should something happen.
To help avoid getting into a troublesome situation, it is suggested that drivers slow down on the roads.
Give other vehicles plenty of space, especially when nearing a stop sign or traffic light.
Stopping distances can double when on snowy or icy roads, so an additional car length could be the difference between a safe stop and a fender bender.
If you are driving up a hill, it is suggested you do not power your way up it.
When your tires begin to spin, that is when control is lost, and accidents happen.
