Manitowoc Lincoln High School has updated its Wall of Fame.
The school has been highlighting the men and women who have made Lincoln athletics special since 2009, with 53 names adorning the wall.
However, as Athletic Director Stan Dietrich explained to Seehafer News, they were running out of room on the walls of the JFK Fieldhouse.
He said that the large signs were taking up so much space, “We couldn’t even put the five up that we had inducted last year.”
So, the Wall of Fame Committee met to discuss their options.
The group decided to install not only a large board with the names of each year’s inductees on it right at the entrance to the JFK but also some technology on the wall.
“In the bottom middle, it has a QR code,” Dietrich explained. “You take your phone, you scan it, and instead of just seeing who was inducted and what year, it takes you to all the bios for everyone that’s there.”
This year’s Wall of Fame inductees have already been announced.
They are father-son track and cross-country duo Don and Eric Fogltanz and Jon Lallensack, who was a part of the 1963 boys’ basketball state championship team.
Another major addition to the gym was the installation of the state championship and runner-up banners, which have been hung by the American flag above the main entrance.
