Packer fans all over mark this weekend on the calendar each year.
Packers. Bears. At Lambeau.
This year, the game carries even more significance, as the playoffs are on the line, at least for one team.
The Packers are in a win-and-in situation, while the Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention.
In the most recent episode of his On the Line Podcast, former Packer O-Lineman Evan Smith said that this game is going to be a slugfest.
“This game will be who wants it more,” he predicted. “They are definitely playing to be the spoilers.”
While Green Bay rolled into Chicago in week one and walked out with a convincing 38-20 win, Smith warns that this is a very different team coming to Lambeau Field.
“The Bears aren’t the Bears of week 1,” he noted. “Justin Fields has two years under his belt now…and he seems to be understanding more. He has finally developed a rapport with a receiver.”
The Packers/Bears rivalry has led to many memorable moments, including in 2013 when Randal Cobb caught a 48-yard touchdown pass on 4th and 8 to secure Green Bay the NFC North crown.
Smith, who snapped the ball on that play, puts that game at the top.
“I have played in a lot of football games. That was my favorite game I’ve ever played in in my life,” he said. “The craziness, Aaron (Rodgers) coming back, like what we had to do to even get to that point.”
The game is scheduled for 3:30 this afternoon (January 7th) and will be aired on 107.9 FM WOMT.
