A man was arrested in Manitowoc over the weekend after he caused a disturbance at a gas station and fled from police.
Officers were sent to the Kwik Trip on South 42nd Street at 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve on a report of a man who was yelling and had kicked over a cigarette container. By the time officers arrived, the man had walked over to KFC.
When confronted, the man took off on foot, running across the street toward Kwik Trip, where he tripped and fell into a mud puddle.
He got back up and attempted to flee again, this time falling on the blacktop.
He begged police not to “taze” him while he rolled around on the ground.
He told police he was homeless but didn’t know his own name.
The officers used the 40-year-old man’s cell phone to call 911 in order to get his name.
The man was found to have several open cases, leading to his arrest on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Resisting, Criminal Damage to Property, and three counts each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
