A woman hailing from Beloit and a man residing in Janesville found themselves behind bars on New Year’s Eve following a pursuit that spanned two counties.
The incident unfolded just after 10 p.m. on Sunday night when deputies from Jefferson County attempted to initiate a traffic stop for the couple along Highway 26 near Highway 19.
Instead of complying, the duo accelerated away, continuing their high-speed evasion into Dodge County, where local deputies took over the pursuit.
The pursuit reached its conclusion in the Village of Lowell, as deputies strategically employed spike strips to puncture the car’s tires.
Subsequently, the man from Janesville attempted to flee but ended up falling into the river.
Meanwhile, the woman from Beloit remained in the disabled vehicle and was apprehended on charges of cocaine possession.
