The Green Bay Packers are coming off a win over the Carolina Panthers that was much closer than some may have liked.
The Pack took home a 33-30 win over the team with the worst record in the league, and a big reason for that, according to former Packer O-Lineman Evan Smith, is that the offense was clicking, but the defense seemed flat.
“There were guys on the defense playing really hard, and that’s why the game went the way it did,” he said. “But I don’t think, overall, as a group, the team was bringing their best stuff Sunday.”
Speaking of the offense, the young receiving corps continues to impress, including Bo Melton, who had four key catches for 44 yards against the Panthers.
Smith is putting a warning out to teams around the league.
“This receiving corps is super young,” he warned. “It’s nice because they are going to grow with Jordan (Love) as he starts to grow in his position.”
As for what he predicts for the Packers this weekend, Smith called a 28-17 win for the Packers on the road against division rivals and the team just above them in the playoff race, the Minnesota Vikings.
“I’m thinking the Packer’s D is going to show up,” he predicted. “Watching the Vikings right now on offense, it’s not going very good.”
That game will take place Sunday night and will be aired on 107.9 FM WOMT. You can hear more from Evan in his new podcast called On the Line.
New episodes are posted every Tuesday at noon.
