Manitowoc residents who decorated a real tree for Christmas are once again encouraged to participate in the City of Manitowoc Forestry Division’s Tree for a Tree Program.
This is the sixth year of the program, which aims to help boost the urban canopy which has been devastated by the Emerald Ash Borer.
As part of the Tree for a Tree program, residents can trade their Christmas tree for a “whip,” a deciduous seedling ready for planting.
All you have to do is bring your Christmas tree to the Manitowoc County Recycling Center, located at 3000 Basswood Road, anytime throughout the month of January.
All decorations should be removed from the tree, and if it stands taller than six feet, it should be cut in half.
More information can be found on the City of Manitowoc’s website.
