Florence Hardwoods is being fined over $1.4 million by the U.S. Department of Labor following the death of a teenage worker.
The fine stems from multiple violations discovered during an OSHA investigation triggered by the death of 16-year-old Michael Schuls, who was killed by a wood stacking machine in late June.
Authorities found that the company had nine underage workers (ages 14 to 17) operating hazardous machinery illegally, resulting in 29 serious violations.
