With 2024 being an election year, many people have started to throw their hats into the ring for local leadership roles.
In the City of Manitowoc, Aldermanic Districts 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are all up for grabs.
As of this morning, four of the five sitting aldermen have submitted re-election paperwork, including Jim Brey in District 4, Council President Eric Sitkiewitz in District 6, District 8’s Bill Schlei, and Steve Czekala in District 9.
The City has also received paperwork from four challengers. Daniel Heilman is looking to take over the District 4 seat, William DeBaets will be on the ballot in District 5, Bradley Barnes is running in District 8, and Brett Norell is running for the District 9 seat.
In Two Rivers, only two at-large seats are up for grabs. They are currently held by Jeff Dahlke and Tracey Koach.
However, Koach has filed noncandidacy forms, so she will not be running.
Dahlke is looking to be re-elected, and as of this morning, only Mark Bittner has filed paperwork to be on the ballot.
You can call the City Clerk’s Office in your City to learn more about filing for candidacy.
