The Green Bay Packers are looking to bounce back on a short week as they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
The Pack is coming off of a close loss to the New York Giants Monday night, in a game many thought would be a walk in the park.
Former Green Bay Packer o-lineman Evan Smith is reminding Packer fans that winning in the NFL isn’t easy.
“Especially when expectations are high, (and) when teams know they are not part of the playoffs,” he said. “You want to be that spoiler. That’s what teams are out for at this point in the year.”
The Bucs are coming into Lambeau Field at 6-7 on a two-game win streak and tied with the Falcons and Saints for the top spot in the NFC South.
The Super Bowl-winning Packer alum put it bluntly, saying the Pack and the Bucs are playing postseason football right now.
“The playoffs have started for all these 7-6, 6-7 teams,” he stated. “For these teams, every game is important. If you are not playing with that in mind, playing for the championship, you have no business being in the playoffs in the first place.”
He also said that the final four to five weeks of the season is the best time to be a fan of NFL football.
“This is when the best football is being played,” he said bluntly. “You know what teams are going to do, they know what you are going to do…so now it comes down to executing at a higher level.”
Green Bay and Tampa Bay square off at noon, with coverage from Lambeau Field beginning at 10:00 a.m. on 107.9 FM WOMT.
