For the second time in a week, an Eastern Wisconsin Senator is getting bipartisan support for a bill.
The measure, which aims to relieve local taxpayers from the burden of unequal landfill regulation, was penned by Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere and Representative Jeff Mursau of Oconto Falls and passed the Assembly Committee on Local Government on a unanimous 10-0 vote.
Jacque said of the bill, “Municipal budgets – and their taxpayers – are stretched thin as it is, and passing this legislation would make public resources available for other priorities.”
It must next clear the full Assembly and Senate and be signed by the Governor to become law.
