An Oshkosh resident is dead following a house fire early Thursday morning (December 14th).
Oshkosh Fire received a call at around 4:50 a.m. reporting a structure fire in the 1800 block of Ashland Street.
The caller reported that there may still be someone inside the northside residence, so crews quickly made their way to the home.
When they arrived, black smoke was reported to be coming from the building.
Firefighters entered the structure, where they found an unnamed individual already deceased.
The four other occupants of the home had escaped without injury.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing.
The family is being aided by the American Red Cross and the Oshkosh Police Department’s Community Crisis Closet.
