Wausau police successfully used a drone to locate a man who had fallen through the ice on the Wisconsin River.
The incident occurred near Bluegill Bay County Park in Rib Mountain on Friday morning.
The man, initially observed attempting to breach the fence at Wausau Downtown Airport, subsequently ran across the airport field, entered wooded areas, and eventually fell into the river.
The drone facilitated the pinpointing of the individual’s location, enabling the launch of a rescue boat and crew to retrieve him from the water.
