A fire in the basement of an Appleton home caused significant damage over the weekend.
According to the Appleton Fire Department, crews were sent to a home in the 1100 block of West Elise Street at around 8:00 Sunday evening.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the home evacuated and smoke emanating from a side door.
Heavy flames were encountered in the basement, causing the fire crews to battle the flames from the top of the stairs and a side window.
The flames were deemed under control about 30 minutes later, but not before they caused an estimated $125,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, and no injuries were reported.
