A new legislative proposal in Wisconsin aims to grant anonymity to lottery winners claiming prizes exceeding one million dollars. Introduced by state Rep.
William Penterman, the plan seeks to shield winners from unwanted attention. If approved by lawmakers and signed by the governor, Wisconsin would join 18 other states allowing lottery winners to claim prizes anonymously.
Currently, winners exceeding $599 must file a claim, and those surpassing $50,000 have their names announced on the lottery’s website.
