
The mayor of Milwaukee is endorsing a proposal to heighten penalties for misdemeanor domestic abuse cases.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson recently endorsed a resolution supporting the initiative to revoke firearm rights from individuals convicted in misdemeanor cases.
Presently, individuals convicted of felony domestic abuse are prohibited from legally owning firearms.
A faction of Democrats at the Wisconsin Capitol is pushing to extend this restriction to those with misdemeanor convictions.
The mayor asserts that individuals who exhibit violent behavior should not have access to tools that could escalate their violence.
