A local post of the American Legion recently played host to a leader of the national organization.
American Legion National Vice Commander, Mark Shreve met with members of Legion Post 477 – St Nazianz at Meat’s Opera Haus on November 3rd.
During the visit, Mr. Shreve spoke about Legion priorities, conducted Buddy Check phone calls to Post members, talked about the importance of sponsoring and mentoring new Legion members, and distributed ‘Got 1’ pins to Post members who recruited at least one Legion member for the 2024 year.
He also spoke at length about the Be The One campaign.
Mr. Shreve stated, “The goal of the Legion is that not one Veteran commits suicide. In order to do this, we must reach out to Veterans and ask if they are OK, if they need assistance, have the knowledge on who may help, to include calling 988. We have to Be The One to save the life of a Veteran.”
