
For the second time this season, the UW Green Bay Women’s Basketball team took down a ranked opponent over the weekend.
The Phoenix toppled the previously unbeaten and 23-ranked Washington State Cougars 59-48 at the Cancun Challenge.
UWGB trailed 14-10 after the first quarter, but netted 20 points in the 2nd, and held the Cougars to only 9 in the final frame to secure the 11-point win.
Kimberly product Maddy Schreiber led the way for the Phoenix, tallying 12 points, while Jenna Guyer added 11, and Bailey Buttler netted 10.
Additionally, Luxemburg-Casco graduate Cassie Schiltz was named to the All-Tournament team, while Head Coach Kevin Borseth moves to only two wins away from 800 in his career.
UWGB previously took down #22 Creighton, marking the first time since the 2017-18 season that the Phoenix knocked off two ranked opponents in a season.
The UWGB women are off until Thursday when they travel to take on UW Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center.
The men also picked up a 64-51 win over St. Thomas and will be taking on Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday in Fort Wayne Indiana.
