Now that Eastern Wisconsin has received the first snowfall of the season, the City of Manitowoc is reminding residents of the winter parking regulations in the city.
There are two different kinds of parking bans, depending on the severity of the storm that is expected.
On lighter snowfalls, like the one we received over the weekend, a Winter Parking Ban will be implemented by Mayor Justin Nickels.
When that is called for, parking will be disallowed on highways, bus routes, any industrial truck routes specified, in any municipal parking lot, or on other posted streets between 1:00 and 6:00 a.m.
When a Snow Emergency is declared, the Municipal Code states that the mayor “may prohibit parking on any or all streets in the city” during the same time frame.
Any vehicles parked illegally are subject to a $75 dollar fine and may be towed at the owner’s expense.
