It’s that time of year when everyone is searching for the perfect holiday gifts.
Sometimes, the enticing ads on social media or emails from unknown brands or websites have exactly what someone is looking for.
Some might click on these ads, landing on unfamiliar websites and even be redirected.
Therefore, there are a few things to check before filling your shopping cart according to the Better Business Bureau.
One important thing to look out for is the BBB seal.
This indicates that the business values trust and has BBB accreditation, providing a level of assurance for shoppers.
In short, it’s a sign of a good business.
It is also important to know where the retailer is based.
Many operate overseas so it’s worth checking where the order will be shipped from, delivery times, and return policies.
Also, to be aware of any additional costs, like shipping or return fees.
Make sure they are reasonable before making a purchase. Next do a scan of the retailer’s website and social media.
Look for any contact information or an address.
Also check any comments on social media to see if they’re all overly positive, or all negative and if the retailer responds to any of them.
Lastly, look at the site’s privacy policy.
If unable to find one, that is a warning sign. After following these recommendations, it will be easier to decipher if it’s worth purchasing from the unfamiliar site or not.
