Valders basketball and the school district are honoring a longtime coach tonight.
Prior to their matchup with Plymouth, the Vikings will be renaming their home court “Dick Nelson Court” in honor of the coach who recorded 336 wins with the team.
Coach Nelson also led the Vikings to three consecutive runner-up finishes at the state tournament in 1982, 1983, and 1984, and eight conference championships.
He was also inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002.
After the game between the Vikings and the Panthers, everyone is invited to celebrate with Coach Nelson at Overtime Sports Bar and Grill, located at 175 Tyler Street in Valders.
