A person from Door County is dead after a vehicle collided with a deer over the weekend.
According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in the 5800 block of State Highway 57/Sturgeon Bay Road just before 8:30 Saturday evening.
First responders found a badly injured 54-year-old man, who explained that an 18-year-old passenger was still trapped in the vehicle, which he said was deep in the woods.
A search of the area eventually located the vehicle, and the passenger in the vehicle was said to be dead when he was found.
An investigation revealed that the duo was traveling north on the highway when a deer crashed through the windshield.
This caused the driver to lose control, cross the southbound lanes, go off the road, and strike a tree.
The car was found about 60 feet from the roadway.
The 54-year-old man was taken to a Green Bay hospital for treatment, and alcohol was said to not have been a factor in the crash.
