
The UW Green Bay women’s basketball team upset a ranked opponent last night.
The Phoenix took down the #22 ranked Creighton Bluejays 65-53 at the D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha Nebraska.
UWGB roared out to a big lead right out of the gate, taking a 22-9 lead into the second quarter.
The game was evenly matched the rest of the way, leading to the big 12 points with for the Phoenix.
Efficiency was the name of the game, as the Phoenix shot 54% from the field, 50% from three-point land, and 91% from the charity stripe.
The Bluejays shot sub 35% from the field, below 25% from beyond the arch, and 64% from the free throw line.
Maddy Schreiber, a Kimberly High School product, led the way for UWGB, as she was near perfect from the field, accounting for 14 points.
Wrightstown native Callie Genke netted 11 points, while Luxemburg-Casco’s Cassie Schiltz added 10.
The Phoenix next head to Mexico for the Cancun Challenge, where they will take on UMass, Maryland, and Washington State over Thanksgiving weekend.
