Two people were taken into police custody yesterday (November 14th) after they were caught attempting to steal from the Manitowoc Meijer.
An officer was dispatched to the store at 1818 South Rapids Rod just before 2:15 p.m. after an asset protection worker caught the two women, one of whom has a history of theft at that store.
The 30 and 53-year-old women took a “large amount of merchandise” and placed it into two separate carts, and other items in the older woman’s purse.
The women then exited the store without paying, which is when the officer approached them.
The 30-year-old woman was said to have just shy of $1,690 worth of merchandise in her cart while the older woman had an estimated $1,298 worth.
Both women were charged with Felony Retail Theft. The older woman was also charged with Felony Bail Jumping and two counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
