The New Richmond woman charged with fatally stabbing her fiancé in August of the previous year has decided not to go to trial.
Marian Kathryn Smith pleaded guilty to charges of reckless homicide. Initially, she faced a first-degree homicide charge.
Smith informed the police that a heated argument over a knife had transpired between her and her fiancé, resulting in the knife unintentionally penetrating his abdomen.
Her guilty plea will result in a reduced prison sentence.
Her sentencing is scheduled for February.
