Wisconsin has joined forces with 42 other states in a legal action against Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, over concerns regarding the adverse impact of their platforms on the mental health of young users.
The lawsuit, endorsed by Wisconsin’s Attorney General Josh Kaul, alleges that Meta intentionally implemented features that led to the addiction of children and teenagers, providing constant updates and leading them into unproductive online engagements.
Furthermore, Kaul and other Attorneys General are also examining TikTok for comparable issues impacting the mental well-being of youth.
