The uncle of a Kiel boy is raising money to help pay for his nephew’s medical bills.
The child, only referred to as Tucker on the GoFundMe page, has what is known as Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), which is a rare immunodeficiency disorder that impairs the immune system’s ability to defend the body against foreign cells.
His uncle John, who set up the fundraising effort, explained on the page that only 1 in 25,000 people contract the disease, and 20% of those who do are children.
He also noted that as of now, CVID is not curable, but can be treated through plasma infusions.
Tucker has undergone countless surgeries over his 10-year lifetime, which has led to the family incurring large medical bills.
If you would like to help, John encourages you to either go donate plasma or if you are able to send a monetary donation, you can do so on the GoFundMe page or through Venmo.
