The Kaukauna Police Officer who shot a man last month has been deemed justified in their actions.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office conducted an independent investigation where they learned that the man who was shot was driving a stolen vehicle with two juvenile females in it.
Officers were sent to a home in the 500 block of Diedrich Street on September 13th as they received a tip that indicated that is where the man was headed after eluding officers previously that evening.
The vehicle parked in the garage, which is when Sergeant Michael Frank approached and began yelling at the man to stop the vehicle.
The man instead reversed out of the garage at what was described as a high rate of speed, leading to SGT Frank discharging his weapon, striking the driver.
The vehicle came to a stop, the man was arrested, and the two young females were secured.
SGT Frank was also injured in the incident and a squad car was struck, but no additional injuries were reported.
The name of the suspect has yet to be released.
