In a move to address truancy concerns, lawmakers gathered at the Wisconsin Capitol are set to convene for a meeting later this morning (October 16th).
The Speaker’s Task Force On Truancy has organized this session, during which two representatives from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) will offer insights to lawmakers regarding the challenges of ensuring consistent school attendance.
The manager overseeing school social work and community services at MPS will be the first to present their testimony.
The legislators’ primary objective is to explore potential avenues for the state to support initiatives aimed at reducing truancy rates and facilitating an increase in on-time high school graduations.
