The trial begins today for a Green Bay woman who is accused of starting a house fire that claimed the life of her infant nephew.
Marcelia Fonseca, who is now 19 years old, is facing a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and Arson of a Building.
The fire at the home located at 2519 Wisconsin Avenue started in the morning hours of June 7th, 2019.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and learned about the infant trapped on the second floor.
The 11-month-old infant later died from their injuries.
An investigation determined that the fire started in the second-floor bedroom, and Fonseca was believed to have started it.
She even told investigators “I was trying to kill her.”
The trial will be in front of Judge John Zakowski and is slated to run for the next two weeks.
