Ascend Services, which helps people with disabilities receive employment, is joining a nationwide effort to observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The Manitowoc-based organization recently announced that they are joining the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy in recognizing the annual awareness campaign each October.
The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
Reflecting this year’s theme, throughout the month, Ascend will be engaging in a variety of activities to educate its employees and clients on disability employment issues and its commitment to an accessible and equitable work culture.
Deana Genske, the Executive Director of Ascend, said of NDEAM, “We want to spread the important message that we value all perspectives, especially those of individuals with disabilities.”
