
The Manitowoc Police Department has released its statistics for September.
While officers were called more last month than they were in September of 2022, 2,848 calls compared to 2,729, nearly 300 more of those calls did not result in any reports.
In fact, the number of adult criminal charges was down significantly when compared to last September’s number.
Last month, 114 adult criminal charges were filed, 69 fewer than September 2022.
The year-to-date numbers are similarly lower, 1,525 so far this year compared to 1,596 last year at this time.
The juvenile criminal charges did rise, albeit slightly.
38 juvenile criminal charges were filed last month, up only five from last September.
Also declining is the number of traffic citations, 231 last month compared to 236 last year, the number of ordinance citations, 77 compared to 87 last year, and traffic accidents, down 20 from last September’s figure of 110.
One figure that did go up pretty significantly was the parking violations.
541 tickets were issued last month, which is up nearly 28% from the 423 tickets issued in September 2022.
