State investigators are currently examining a fatal incident involving law enforcement officers that occurred over the weekend in Rice Lake.
According to the Department of Justice, Rice Lake Police received a distress call from a woman reporting a stabbing incident around 5:30 on Sunday afternoon.
Upon their arrival at the scene, investigators report that a man had barricaded himself inside an apartment.
Subsequently, officers made efforts to persuade the man to exit the premises.
However, investigators state that the man instead charged at the officers wielding a blade.
In response to this threat, the Department of Justice reports that officers were compelled to use lethal force, resulting in the man’s tragic demise.
None of the officers sustained injuries, and Rice Lake Police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to their safety.
