Over the weekend, the Palestinian militant group known as Hamas launched what the New York Times calls “one of the broadest invasions on Israeli territory for 50 years”.
Thousands of rockets struck all over Israel Saturday morning, after which militants crossed into the country “by land, sea and air”, infiltrating 22 towns and army basses, and taking numerous civilian and military hostages.
Wisconsin Congressman Glenn Grothman called the invasion “pure evil” as more than 1,100 people have been killed.
The Glenbeulah resident noted in a public statement that “The goal appears solely to spread terror and death. There is no other time in recent memory in which an invasion targeted civilians, specifically women and children.”
Grothman, who is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, also stated “America strongly stands with Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East, as they respond to the violence perpetrated by Hamas.”
