Several Democratic lawmakers in Wisconsin are voicing their support for Justice Janet Protasiewicz’s decision not to recuse herself from two redistricting cases.
Prominent among them is Melissa Agard, the leading Democrat in the Wisconsin Senate, who firmly believes that Protasiewicz’s choice is entirely justified.
On the other hand, numerous Republicans have called upon Protasiewicz to abstain from presiding over the two redistricting cases, as well as a challenge to Wisconsin’s pre-Roe abortion law.
They argue that her involvement in these cases could be biased due to her prior involvement in running for the Supreme Court.
In fact, some of these Republican lawmakers have even mentioned the possibility of pursuing impeachment proceedings against Protasiewicz if she refuses to recuse herself from these cases.
