Support for utilizing public funds to finance improvements at the Brewers’ ballpark appears stronger in the rest of Wisconsin compared to Milwaukee.
In a recent survey unveiled by Milwaukee’s tourism office and the city’s chamber of commerce, 66 percent of respondents expressed a desire for collaboration between the governor and Republican lawmakers to find a solution for funding the necessary work at American Family Field, thereby ensuring the Brewers’ continued presence in Milwaukee.
This level of support contrasts markedly with the findings of a prior poll conducted last month, which indicated that a majority of Milwaukee voters were opposed to using taxpayer money for ballpark upgrades.
The release of this poll coincided with the first hearing scheduled for today regarding the proposal to allocate approximately $600 million in taxpayer funds to facilitate the renovation of American Family Field and secure the Brewers’ presence in Milwaukee until 2050.
