Calls for the resignation of Chippewa County’s sheriff are growing louder.
Chippewa County Board Supervisor Rob Teuteberg, a former Chippewa Falls Police officer, issued a statement late Tuesday, urging Sheriff Travis Hakes to step down immediately.
Teuteberg expressed his belief that Sheriff Hakes is not suitable to lead the sheriff’s department.
This move comes after the county recently unveiled a comprehensive 100-page report stemming from an investigation into the sheriff’s conduct.
The report primarily focused on sexually suggestive memes and allegations of Sheriff Hakes exhibiting unpredictable behavior.
In response, Sheriff Hakes criticized the report, labeling it as poorly executed, biased, and factually inaccurate.
He contends that his political adversaries are behind the effort to remove him from his position within the sheriff’s office.
