Mabel E. Junk, age 96, of Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, September 30, 2023, at Angelus Assisted Living, Manitowoc where she has been residing since 2021.
Mabel was born at home in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids on September 26, 1927, daughter of the late Herman and Julia (Eslinger) Lorenz. She grew up in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids and was a 1946 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On July 6, 1946, Mabel was married to Marvin A. Junk at Cleveland. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1994. Prior to having her children Mabel worked at the Manitowoc County Court House and after her children were in school Mabel was a crossing guard for the Manitowoc Public School district, proudly wearing Badge #1. She was a lifelong member of Rockwood Ev. Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking, her flower gardens and roses, playing cards and table games.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Thomas (Joyce) Junk of Manitowoc; Mark Junk of Milwaukee; one son-in-law: Gene Erdman of Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Julie Hang, Holly Erdman, Craig Erdman, Rick (Kendra) Junk; three great grandchildren: Alysa (Chris), Kou, Isabella; one great great grandson: Miles; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Herman and Julia Lorenz; her husband: Marvin A. Junk; one infant son: Gary Junk; one daughter: Elaine Erdman; one brother and sister-in-law: Victor (Mary) Lorenz; one sister and brother-in-law: Florence (Alfred) Brandl; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. James Hoefner will officiate and burial to follow on Thursday at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM.
