The Chief of Staff of the Milwaukee Police Department, Heather Hough, issued an apology yesterday during a city council committee meeting regarding the missed opportunity to secure a $15 million grant aimed at bolstering the hiring of additional police officers.
Hough expressed regret for the inadequate communication that transpired regarding the grant.
During her appearance before the city council committee, Hough took responsibility for failing to promptly inform council members about the situation as it unfolded.
It was revealed last week that the Milwaukee Police Department had decided not to pursue the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant.
However, an investigation uncovered that the department had inadvertently missed the application deadline for the $15 million grant back in May.
